Active + viewneo

Bring Fitbit fitness challenges to your screens and turn individual step counts into live team competitions visible to everyone.

What the Active plugin does

The viewneo Active plugin is a Fitbit fitness challenge integration that displays live leaderboards on your office screens, making workplace wellness visible to everyone. Step counts, distances, flights of stairs, and active minutes become shared data points that colleagues can follow throughout the day — creating natural motivation without any additional tools beyond what participants already carry.

The plugin supports both team-based competitions, where departments or groups compete as a unit, and open individual contests where every participant races for the top spot. Combined with the Display Timer plugin, you can schedule challenge screens during peak traffic periods — morning arrivals, lunch breaks, end of day — so the leaderboard is always visible when it matters most.

How it works

  1. Set up the challenge — in viewneo, open the Active plugin and configure the challenge type (team or individual), the metric (distance, stairs, or active minutes), and the start and end dates.
  2. Participants connect their Fitbit — each participant links their Fitbit account to the challenge. A Fitbit device is required to record and submit activity data.
  3. Live leaderboards go on screen — the plugin pulls activity data from Fitbit and renders the current rankings on your display in real time, updating automatically throughout the challenge.

Example use cases

  • Corporate offices — departments compete during a monthly step challenge, with standings shown on lobby and breakroom screens.
  • Fitness studios — members join a club-wide distance challenge and track their position on a screen near the entrance throughout the month.
  • Healthcare facilities — staff wellness programmes use the Active plugin to run team competitions that encourage movement during shifts.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Active plugin cost?
$2.80 per player and month or $28.00 per player and year — depending on whether your subscription is billed monthly or yearly. The plugin can be booked from viewneo Professional, is enabled free of charge during the 30-day trial and can be re-assigned to another player at any time. All prices are on the pricing page.
Do participants need a Fitbit device?
Yes. A Fitbit device is required for each participant to join a challenge. Activity data is sourced from Fitbit and displayed on the viewneo screen via the Active plugin.
How does Fitbit data reach the viewneo display?
The Active plugin connects to Fitbit's platform to retrieve participant activity data, which is then rendered as live leaderboard content by viewneo. Data flows through the viewneo cloud; no direct integration between individual Fitbit devices and the screen is required.
